Frequently Asked QuestionseLaserWhat does the eLaser do?eLaser features the powerful elōs™ combination of Bi-Polar Radio Frequency (RF) and high-power Diode Laser energies. The result is incredible efficiency, including the fastest hair removal available today. Deeper dermal penetration also delivers skin tightening through wrinkle reduction, as well as effective treatment of vascular lesions, including leg veins. There are currently 3 different applicators that can be used on the eLaser. The 3 different applications are: eLaser
Ultra Fast Hair Removal (DSL Applicator)
Wrinkle Reduction (WRA Applicator)
Leg & Facial Vein Treatment (LV Applicator)
eLaserWhat is the eLaser?eLaser is an 810nm diode laser combined with bipolar RF (radio frequency) energy. The eLaser is designed to be a high-speed system for elōs™ hair removal on all skin types I-VI, including tanned skin and all hair colors. What is the difference between the eLaser and the Polaris/Comet/Galaxy for hair removal? The primary difference is in speed of operation, since the eLaser pulse repetition rate is up to 2 Hz or 2 pulses per second. It can operate in auto-repeat mode which allows for very fast treatment times on large zones such as legs and backs. The eLaser also uses double the amount of bi-polar RF energy compared to the Aurora DS with diode laser optical energy as opposed to broad-spectrum pulsed light. A large back can be treated in less than 30 minutes with the eLaser. Can the eLaser be an upgrade from an existing Polaris platform? No. The eLaser is a stand-alone system which cannot share the same platform as the WR or LV applicators. What is the advantage of eLaser over other laser hair removal systems? The eLaser can treat large zones very fast, and there is no exclusionary criteria based on skin type or hair color (the treatment approach for apigmented hairs is different than treating dark hair and the response rate may be less predictable). How efficacious is the eLaser? In a study which included skin types II-V showed 35-42% clearance 3 months after a single treatment. Post treatment hair extrusion occurs around 2-3 weeks. Some hair shafts can be pulled out of the follicle immediately post-treatment without resistance, indicating disengagement from the follicle while the hair shaft is still intact (i.e. has not been singed by the laser heat)- the bi-polar RF energy effect is clearly evident. How is eLaser treatment tolerated by the patient?Everyone has different pain tolerances but most patients are treated without topical anesthetic creams. The chilled air device, SynerCool™ is very helpful for discomfort during treatment and especially when fast, auto-repeat firing is used for large treatment zones. Most patients find that the eLaser is more uncomfortable than the Aurora for hair removal; possibly from the higher RF energy used. Ultra Fast Hair Removal (DSL Applicator)How does Hair Removal with elōs™ DSL Applicator work? The DSL uses laser and bi-polar radio frequency energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area. What is the advantage of DSL Applicator over other laser hair removal systems? The DSL can treat large zones very fast, and there is no exclusionary criteria based on skin type or hair color (the treatment approach for apigmented hairs is different than treating dark hair and the response rate may be less predictable). How efficacious is the treatment with DSL Applicator? In a study which included skin types II-V showed 35-42% clearance 3 months after a single treatment. Post treatment hair extrusion occurs around 2-3 weeks. Some hair shafts can be pulled out of the follicle immediately post-treatment without resistance, indicating disengagement from the follicle while the hair shaft is still intact (i.e. has not been singed by the laser heat)- the bi-polar RF energy effect is clearly evident. Is treatment with the DSL Applicator safe?Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the DSL technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colors. There are no long term health hazards from laser or electric energies used in the DSL. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity. How is DSL Applicator treatment tolerated by the patient?Everyone has different pain tolerances but most patients are treated without topical anesthetic creams. The chilled air device, SynerCool™ is very helpful for discomfort during treatment and especially when fast, auto-repeat firing is used for large treatment zones. What results can one expect from the DSL Applicator treatment? Each DSL treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 6-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker colored hair. How frequently does one need DSL Applicator treatments? The treatments are usually performed every 2-3 months, but this depends on individual factors. What happens after each DSL Applicator treatment?Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will “shed” some hairs over the next 2-4 weeks, and patients may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment. Who should get DSL treatment for Hair Removal?Anyone who wants a permanent solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis. There are few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment. Wrinkle Reduction (WRA Applicator)How does Wrinkle Treatment with elōs™ WRA Applicator work? The WRA combines safe and effective levels of laser and radiofrequency (electric current) energies to remodel the dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth, creating a smoother and softer appearance. Both laser and radiofrequency have been used separately for decades in medicine and surgery, but the WRA exclusively combines light and radio-frequency energy for ideal treatment outcomes with a very low risk of side effects and virtually no down-time. What results can one expect from the WRA Applicator treatment? The WRA can improve textural irregularities in the skin due to loss of collagen in the dermis such as: non-dynamic moderate wrinkles, enlarged pores, superficial acne scarring, rough skin texture, and skin laxity of the face and neck. This is done non-ablatively, which means that this is a non-invasive procedure. Most people leave the treatment office with only slight pinkness or no pinkness at all, they can return to work immediately. How many treatments are required? Most patients will have between 3-5 treatments. How frequently does one need WRA Applicator treatments?Treatment sessions are typically 3-4 weeks apart. How is WRA Applicator treatment tolerated by the patient? The sensation may be described as a “hot pinch”, like someone snapping an elastic band on your skin. Patients tolerate treatment well by use of either cooling the skin during treatment and/or use of a topical anesthetic cream that numbs the skin. Is treatment with the WRA Applicator safe?ANY medical laser procedure has risk of side effects such as superficial blistering, crusting, and pigmentary changes in the skin. These risks are rare and usually quickly resolved. The WRA incorporates several technological advances that focus on patient safety to minimize these risks and provide greater satisfaction. The laser handpiece is also cooled for skin protection and comfort during the procedure. Who should be treated with the WRA Applicator?Anyone with unwanted moderate wrinkles, superficial acne scarring, enlarged pores, or rough skin texture from chronic sun-damage. Pigmentation from chronic sun-damage may also improve over the series of treatments. Dynamic wrinkles such as between the brows or deep folds near the mouth/nose are not realistic indications for WRA treatment. Leg & Facial Vein Treatment (LV Applicator)How does Leg & Facial Vein Treatment with elōs™ LV Applicator work? The LV Applicator combines safe and effective levels of laser and radiofrequency (electric current) energies to remove leg veins and other unwanted vessels. Both laser and radiofrequency have been used separately for decades in medicine and surgery, but the LV exclusively combines light and electric energy for ideal treatment outcomes – improve leg veins and vascular lesions with a very low risk of side effects. What results can one expect from the LV Applicator treatment? The LV can improve unsightly leg veins, facial spider veins and other unwanted vascular lesions. Spider veins and larger blue-green vessels on legs will gradually fade and can be treated until patient satisfaction has been reached. How many treatments are required? Most patients will have between 1-3 treatments. Some vessels may require more than 3 treatment sessions. How often are treatments done?Treatment sessions are typically 6-8 weeks apart. Smaller spider veins may be treated every 4 weeks. How is LV Applicator treatment tolerated by the patient? The sensation may be described as a “hot pinch”. Patients tolerate treatment well by use of either cooling the skin during treatment and/or use of a topical anesthetic cream that numbs the skin. Is treatment with the LV Applicator safe?ANY medical laser procedure has risk of side effects such as superficial blistering, crusting, and pigmentary changes in the skin. These risks are rare and usually quickly resolved. The LV incorporates several technological advances that focus on patient safety to minimize these risks and provide greater satisfaction. The laser handpiece is also cooled for skin protection and comfort during the procedure. Who should be treated with the LV Applicator?Anyone with unwanted leg veins or vascular lesions may be a candidate for treatment with the LV. Removal of vascular lesions and veins with elōs™ technology (laser and radio frequency) is a safe and effective alternative for patients who want non-invasive approach to vascular treatment. LV is the clear choice for patients who do not like needles or who have had adverse reaction to solutions that are injected into the vein during Sclerotherapy. |
